Threaded Inserts
for plastics provide strong, durable threads, that offer greater strength and repeatability over molding or tapping threads directly into plastic materials. These parts are beneficial in plastic products that require service and/or repair. Strategic Source Components offers threaded inserts for mold-in, ultrasonic/thermal, and post molded applications. We offer a variety of inserts to compliment the various production methods and design requirements. Most of our inserts are offered in free machining brass for cost effective applications or stainless steel for applications requiring corrosion resistance.
Self-Clinching Fasteners
offer permanent, re-usable threads in thin sheet metal and some PCB materials. These parts are installed by using a slow action parallel force into ductile materials that must be softer than the fastener. The slow action force allows for material to cold flow into the “clinching features” which consists of knurls, undercuts, serrations, and/or hex configurations. Strategic Source Components offers self-clinching fasteners in a variety of styles such as nuts, studs, standoffs, and access hardware to meet a wide range of application needs. Most of our self-clinching fasteners are offered in heat treated steel (with plating finishes), stainless steel, or aluminum.
Electronic Hardware
consists of mechanical fastener or handle products used in the construction of electronic components or their sub-assemblies. Strategic Source Components offers threaded/un-threaded standoffs used to provide spacing or as guide holes in printed circuit board, panel assemblies, or gears. Thumb screws allow for an ergonomic design that has a larger head featuring a knurl profile for hand assembly/dis-assembly of a panel. A large assortment of handle sizes can be utilized to attach to rack panels and enclosures.
Wire Threaded Inserts
are formed from high quality stainless steel wire with a diamond shaped cross section, wound to the shape of a spring thread. Once the wire is wound into a helical coil and installed into a tapped hole, it provides a permanent and wear resistant thread in the parent material that is generally stronger than the original thread. The inserts are designed to be greater in diameter than the tapped hole and compress as they are installed. This allows maximum surface contact area with the tapped thread, safely and permanently anchoring the inserts into place. The insert’s compensatory action shares the load over the entire bolt and hole, increasing pull out and torque out strength. With a Recoil insert in place, load and stress are more evenly distributed over the assembly.
Generic Fasteners
provide an inexpensive, cost effective means to be able to assemble and/or dis-assemble a variety of common products and applications. Some of common generic fasteners offered thru Strategic Source Components include: nuts, bolts, screws, washers, rivets, retaining rings, clips, pins, hooks, and many others. Many of these products can also be provided with Mil Spec and/or DFARS certifications where required. Strategic Source Components also can offer adhesives: thread locking, flange gasket, and retaining compounds.
Most of our generic fasteners are offered in unified and metric threads in steel (with various plating finishes) and stainless steel. Screw Machine Parts
Strategic Source Components offers a wide capability range for custom screw machine products. We are able to provide parts from 1/8″ OD to 1″ OD in a variety of profiles including round, hex, and square. Materials available include: aluminum, brass, stainless steel, steel, plastics, and exotic metals. Quantities range from 1 pc to 100,000 pcs+.
Conventional screw machines offer high quality, cost effective parts capable of holding tolerance of +/.002 in most cases. Typical parts produced on conventional screw machines are: fasteners, bushings, fittings, valves, and inserts. Swiss screw machines offer exceptional quality and are capable of holding tolerances of +/-.0001, particularly over longer lengths. Typical parts produced on Swiss screw machines are: pins, shafts, contacts, and parts requiring complex configurations.
CNC Machined Parts
CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) Machining is a process of removing unwanted material from raw stock to produce a desired end product. This process is accomplished by utilizing a variety of tools, on multiple axis, being controlled by computer/program function. This results in the ability to make highly sophisticated shapes to extremely tight tolerances (+/-.0005) in a wide range of materials such as brass, aluminum, stainless steel, and plastics to name a few.
Sometimes, CNC machining is used in conjunction with casting as it is more economical to produce the rough geometry of a part using a casting method and then finish the product to exact specifications by CNC machining the rest.
